In The Press - LittleONE Baby Magazine!

A very exciting day here today - this morning I received the latest issue of LittleONE Baby magazine in the post. I had an inkling that there might be something to make me smile in this issue - but I am more like the Cheshire Cat. Two dresses from my Summer Collection have been featured in the magazine and I am a little bit more than excited!
Front Cover
'Freebird' Dress (top of page)
'Sweet Dot' Tie Back Dress (bottom row, second along)
This is the first time I have made it to the press, very exciting!

Spring/Summer 2010/11 Collection - photoshoot . . .

Yesterday morning we had the photoshoot for some of my spring/summer 2010 pieces. 4 little models braved the very cool outdoor weather - with thankfully no rain! Here is just a peak at my little Miss M showing off just one of the new dresses, more photos to come next week. A very special thanks to our photographer Angela of little fingers photography. Take a look at her gorgeous work - we have booked ourselves in for a family session just before Christmas and I can't wait!

Something new for the shop

I lost my sewjo last night, so today I have been distracted by creating something new and here they are. I found these hair elastics at the shops today and fiddled around this afternoon with creating these very cute headbands that will look very cute on little ones. I might make a few more over the weekend and see how they go at the markets on Sunday.

Sewing will be back in full swing tomorrow with hubby home after the week working away.

Hushabye Quilts

I opened my "Hushabye" by Tula Pink jelly roll earlier this week and created two cot size (approx. 110x130cm) very quick quilt tops to finish and take to Mathilda's in Adelaide in March. The first I pieced together 24 random strips including all the pink ones from the roll then sliced in half, turned one half around and pieced the two long pieces together. The second one doesn't have any pink in it and I think the colours would be great for a little boy. This I have just left the strips as sewn - I had to add in 8 extra strips to get my 24 strips in total of some coffee coloured quilters cottons I picked up at spotlight. The spotted fabric I am using to back both quilts, not sure about the binding yet.

Girls quilt

Boys quilt - Miss M loves to 'help' measure everything with my measuring tape.

Apologies for the terrible photos once again - I am in serious need of a new camera, the colours really are much better in real life.

Now I just need to decide how to quilt these. I was first inspired to make these quick quilts like this after seeing the quilt Helen made for Ingrid's new little girl last year.

Winter Sewing

Even though we are still experiencing some days of 40 degree temps, winter sewing is happening here under the air-conditioning. Yesterday I went through and found a few cords from last winter and then headed off to the local fabric shop to stock up ready to get stuck into my winter collection for tillytom. Just over 40 metres of corduroy in pinwale and widewale in a good selection of colours, plus about 12 metres of denim to get me started. I wonder how long that will last . . . ? Today's job - washing it all!

Sneak peaks for some of my new designs coming soon. I will be releasing my winter collection in the first week of March with the first lot being offered for sale at the Mathilda's Markets in Adelaide in March : )

the local paper

As a boost for this new local niche market that I am having a stall at this Saturday, the organiser asked myself if I would mind being featured in the local paper to help promote the event. Sure, why not? So with tied bags under the eyes and my pregnant belly hiding behind my sewing table (after a super mad cleanup of the sewing room!) the local paper popped out for a chat and a photo and the article has been featured in today's local paper. All good except the whole way through the article they kept mentioning the market as being on, on Sunday instead of Saturday . . . they are doing another article in tomorrow's paper ; )

Well, some very exciting news for us is that we are off to Mathilda's Market in Adelaide on Saturday 6th March 2010!
Guess who's going to be a very busy little mummy getting ready for this market, as well as a couple of other markets to do before this one. I done a quick checklist of how much stock I really should put together to be prepared for Mathilda's and think I need to order LOTS more fabric today! We are excited, about meeting lots of lovely new and existing customers, making new friends and helping our little label to grow. So we hope to see lots of you there!

Advent Blog-a-long Day #22 - Introducing the 'Grace' dress

This is my latest design - the 'Grace' dress. Based on the same pattern as the 'Gypsy' dress but something a little different with the fabrics, using a beautiful linen/cotton blend for the dress and just a hint of colour with designer cottons for the trim band and patch on the front. All different - all OOAK - beautiful, elegant and graceful. Lovely and cool in Summer and teamed with a long top and tights in winter, year round wear growing from a dress to a top.

A small selection of these new dresses in the Natural and Chocolate linen are now available in my Madeit Store with more to come shortly in red and khaki linen. Custom orders will re-open on the 4th January 2010 - available in sizes 0 -7 Years.

Advent Blog-a-long Day #16 - New Labels

These new labels FINALLY arrived in the post today. Talk about a stuff up, unfortunately I wont be using that company again to make my labels. First lot went missing so i had to wait another 2 weeks for more. Argh, anyway, now that they are here I am not really sure I like them. Its just that the background is suppose to be white but because of the pink text the hot pink thread on the back of the label shows through quite a lot and they are more pale pink. Oh well, they will still get used.
I seem to be failing on the blog a day posting for Christmas, but its busy times here and we are heading off for a quick trip to Adelaide tomorrow for Master T to have a small operation, not much fun the week before Christmas but he should be back to his happy self by the time the big fat man in the red suit is due to arrive next week! Where has the year gone!

Since the launch of my new 'Gypsy' dresses last week and the upload of a few designs into my Madeit Shop on Sunday I have been bombarded with wholesale enquiries!
Wonderful, wonderful news for this very busy mummy!
The first of my new stockists who will have a small selection of these gorgeous little dresses in her store from late next week, with more to come in a few weeks time is;

Blogtoberfest Day #10 ~ Store Stocked & an Extra Giveaway!

Unfortunately last nights market was a very quiet affair, most definitely the quietest market I have ever done. But, as a result I have lots of stock sitting here that I have just loaded up into my Madeit Shop.
So pop on over, tell me what your favourite item in the shop is and next Friday night i'll draw a winner for a $20 voucher to spend in store, valid until Christmas.
How can you get some extra entries into the draw? 1. Become a follower of the blog if you aren't already, 2. Become a fan of my facebook page - the link is over there on the left and 3. Blog about this on your own blog. Please leave a seperate comment for each extra entry so that I can just do the random number thingy to get a winner.
Good luck everyone!

Blogtoberfest Day #2 ~ 3 in 7

Do you think I am ready for 3 markets over the next 7 days?

27 dresses, 29 skirts, a mountain load of fabric covered buttons goodies including hair accessories, bracelets, earrings and badges, plus crayon rolls and bunting, nappy wallets and coin purses and quilts galore. I really hope I don't run out of dresses as I did at the last two day show I did!

I have a market tomorrow morning at the local Inland Botanical Gardens. A great market for handmade only stalls inside an old woolshed. Then Sunday morning one of the local country street markets and next Friday night an indoor market as a fundraiser for one of the local schools. I love doing the markets : )

And on another note, we announced some pretty exciting news to family last night that I am happy to share with my fellow bloggy friends - I'm 12 weeks pregnant!!! Oh my goodness!!! Final addition due to arrive mid April 2010 - Master T has requested another little sister, I'll see what I can do, lol.
